ABOUT MUSHROOMS!...

When most of us think of fungi we imagine mushrooms or toadstools. In fact, these structures are produced by just one of the severalorders of fungi, the Tricholomatales.Mushrooms and toadstools are fruiting bodies, which explains why they are only found at certains times of the year. The fungi that produce them are otherwise invisible, hidden in the soil or wood from which the furiting bodies emerge.Technically, there is no difference between a mushroom and a toadstool. Both have the same structure-a protective cap covering tubes of flat gills from which spores are released. The word mushroom is usually used for edible fungal fruiting bodies.Toadstools are inedible and some are highly poisonous are brightly coloured to warn off animals.
