Bollywood stars have not got a chance to take their makeup off yet - what with the number of awards functions clogging up their calendar!
The latest is the Zee Cine Awards, one of Bollywood biggest awards shows, which was held at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.The stars were dressed in their best, and they also had their best answers for the press.
Like Deepika Padukone who said, 'Ranbir and I belong to the same group of friends. And you cannot shun your group of friends just because of your relationship status, isn't it?'The function was chockfull of performances - with the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Rampal and others taking the stage.This year's Zee Cine Awards also had something special - Akshay Kumar playing host for the first time. He took the mic along with Sajid Khan.The Zee Cine Awards is Bollywood's only viewers' choice award - so mass appeal is the basis of the winning vote!So none of us were taken aback when Dabangg once again walked away with all the awards, despite worthy contenders like Peepli [Live] and Raajneeti.
But Guzaarish did get a nod. Aishwarya Rai walked away with the special jury award for her performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film.Dabangg bagged nine awards in all - including Best Action, Best Editing, Best Screenplay, Best Music, Best Background Music, Song of the Year, Best Debutant Female, Best Debutant Director and Best Film.The theme was also carried forward by Priyanka Chopra - who introduced the six films nominated in the Best Film category.
She dressed up as a Dabangg cop.The evening was marked by several performances - Aishwarya danced to a hattrick of hits from Robot, Action Replayy and Raavan, Arjun Rampal danced with five beauties to Dhanno, and Rishi and Neetu Kapoor entranced with a medley of their hits.Shah Rukh made the evening memorable by getting the media-shy Sussanne Roshan to come on stage (for the very first time) and got Hrithik to serenade her with the Sajda from My Name Is Khan.Deepika added to the fun by doing a number, which was a collage of her own hit songs!
